From Chairman of Department's Desk

The Department of Computer Science aims to enhance the state of research and practice in three
major fields, namely, database, intelligent computing and information security. It is a fast
growing department with an inspiring undergraduate and postgraduate academic programmes
and an outstanding research record.
The department is committed in spearheading world class higher education in computing
technology and in producing skilled and able graduates to fulfill the dynamic needs of Kenya.
The department has an experience, friendly and vibrant community of academic staff ready to
guide students in their path towards excellence.

Objectives

The Department was established to:
1. produce graduates who are highly knowledgeable in the theoretical as well as practical

aspects of computer systems, especially problem-solving, data management and

2. computer security to fulfil the needs of the country,

3. produce computer professionals who are refined and highly ethical, and 

4. provide graduates with the knowledge and skills to do research and further studies.
