Message from Chairman of the Department

I take this early opportunity to welcome you to the Information Technology department which is domiciled in the School of Computing and Information Technology. The department focuses on teaching, research and innovation activities in the area of computing which span from web-based software development, mobile-based software development, networking, database administration, and cyber security. Currently, the department offers PhD programme, Master programme, Undergraduate programmes, Diploma programme and Certificate programme.

The postgraduate programmes prepare students to conduct research in various specializations in the computing field. These areas are; software engineering, artificial intelligence, networking and distributed systems, and Cyber security.

The department is committed to the vision, mission and quality policy statement of Murang’a University of Technology, to ensure excellence in the offering of services to our clients.

OBJECTIVES

The Department was established:

  • To train information technology skills relevant to the market place
  • To produce highly competent IT graduates in various computing fields
  • To contribute to the scholarly knowledge in Information Technology
  • To develop IT based innovations that can be adopted in the community
